DEA Australia

Victoria Entries 2010

Located in the busy shopping precinct of Glenferrie Rd Malvern, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence have made a dramatic and confident leap forward in replacing their well known 'op shop' image with a more contemporary style reaching a wider consumer base.

The strong community connection and sustainable business practices of BSL have been an important basis for DEA's selection of Gunnersons Exterior grade Radiata Plywood B which was utilized for up to 80% of the 100 square metre shop fit out.

The new store design was inspired by folded cardboard and timber crates. The honesty of the Radiata Plywood in revealing varying grain, tone and contrasting knots were endearing qualities. The Radiata Plywood was utilised in Ceiling, wall, counter and Merchandising zones, replacing stainless steel, plaster, stone and other typical materials to great success.

The 'Tree of Knowledge' focal point within the Store, with its circular Apple Mac station support table and furniture are evidence of the broad flexible nature of the Radiata Plywood.
