Persephone Investments Interior Fitout

Jaime Kleinert Architects

NSW & ACT Entries 2010

The fitout is the head office of a boutique investment and business development company. Looking for a character building to represent their corporate profile, they located to a 1970's warehouse in need of full refurbishment. The clients brief was for an unconventional office fitout that would capture the raw essence of the original warehouse with the flavour or their practice. A flexible open plan office was required that could be used for entertaining, however still accommodate private offices, meeting rooms and AV facilities.

Hoop pine plywood was used as the main feature material. Three, strategically placed, ply wrapped cubes are evocative of the original boxes or containers stored in the building. The cubes have been located in the space like rolled dice. The cubes are designed to provide the required private offices and yet retain the open plan ambience of a warehouse. The ply is detailed with black 10mm shadow lines in a 'tiled' pattern. The 'tile' pattern is designed to maximise the sheet usage and minimise waste.

The existing surfaces have been stripped back and left unconcealed in order to reveal the original character of the warehouse. The natural softness of the hoop pine is noticeably juxtaposed against the rugged warehouse surfaces.
