A new luxury Hotel fit-out, located in South Bank Melbourne. Our scope of works were broken into three main areas; Timber panelling / lobby fit-out and commercial joinery to lobby / mezzanine and level 4 lounge.
The timber panelling /lobby fit-out included feature ceiling coffers to the Lobby, Bar and Restaurant areas, column and feature wall cladding, decorative ceiling truss’s and slatted Café Bakery wall. This scope involved design development by our CAD team, shop drawings including engineering to ensure suspended support systems could bear the weight of the solid timber linings.
Commercial joinery included main reception counter, back of house joinery, engineering and maintenance store joinery, staff amenities lockers, hot and cold buffet counters, level 4 entry counter, breakfast and dining tables, magazine and paper bench, luggage store, gym display and storage cupboards, external timber planter boxes, vanities and mirror frames.
Queensland Spotted gum is heavily featured throughout the project in both solid timber and veneer. Over 18,000 lineal metres of 190 x 19mm shiplap material was required for the wall and ceiling linings and 740 sheets of timber veneer used mainly for decorative truss’s, feature restaurant wall and slatted café bakery wall. Other materials used in the joinery fabrication included decorative laminates, powder coated MDF, stone, stainless steel, mirror and powder coated metal frames.
All fabrication took place in our interstate workshop over a period of 5 months with over 25 people engaged on the project at its peak. Due to the tight program Truss’s, columns, wall linings, and the slatted café bakery wall sections were designed to minimise on site installation.
The timber was finished in a clear polyurethane in our in-house factory sprayshop, prior to delivery.
Our onsite team of 12 worked 6 days a week to keep up with the installation over a period of 4 months, some of which was completed in trying conditions while the building was still being fully enclosed due to delays in glazing the outer walls.
All project management was completed though our interstate office using Aconex (web based program) with fortnightly site visits conducted by our project team to support the installation and attend site meetings.
